About Horticare

About Horticare
The main area of our work at the Nursery is the production and sale of garden plants to the general public. An array of perennials are grown, together with herbs, alpines, vegetable plants, shrubs and bedding. Hanging baskets are filled together with planters. These are all on sale at the Nurseries at competitive prices.
We also operate a garden maintenance service. Our team goes out to all parts of the district to undertake various commissions.

Lindhill Nurseries is built on a three acre site at Kirkhamgate in Wakefield, and its present facilities include a shop, two greenhouses, a polytunnel, a workshop, flower beds, offices and a kitchen with adjoining canteen. There is also a private car park for customers, who are free to wander around the plant display areas at their leisure.
Our trainees are fully supervised by trained horticultural staff, who are always on hand to offer advice to customers and trainees alike.
For some of our trainees, their ultimate aim will be to gain valuable work experience at Horticare which will help them to look for open employment in the wider world, if possible. Otherwise, they will remain at the Nursery to realise their potential with the support of our instructors.
Many trainees benefit from an integrated further education scheme, where life and social skills are taught in the environment of a working nursery. Their work and progress is regularly reviewed.
If you know somebody with learning disabilities in the Wakefield area who could benefit from working at Horticare, then please feel free to contact us for advice and information. You can email info@horticarewakefield.org.uk or telephone 01924 372433.
